Bones and all follows the story of a young girl named Maran who discovers she has urges to eat human flesh and when her father leaves her she goes on her own to find her mother.
On the way she meets a fellow human eater Lee and together they fall in love and discover what life they want to live.
It’s a slow burn with emotional moments that does reel you in their world.
But for me, there wasn’t enough to keep me plodding along the story. Sure the idea of love and belonging are themes that I can appreciate and understand.
It just didn’t connect with me the way the movie should have.
This is not to say it was a bad movie because I did enjoy aspects of it, the characters are likeable and you want them to succeed and you do follow them as if you are part of their journey.
The directing was solid, the cinematography was subtle but beautiful and the music score was the best part.
However the story itself left me a bit empty.
I do recommend watching Bones and All. You might be in a situation where you need to watch this type of movie about belonging and finding love.
Bones and All gets a 6.9 out of 10
