The Banshees of Inisherin Review

The Banshees of Inisherin is a dark comedy that focuses on the themes of loneliness, grief, separation, and legacy.

But it is told through humour that is blunt and will leave you chuckling at moments that have a gravity of sadness.

This is done by a solid script that is elevated by performances that deserve a lot of the praise.

Colin Farrell, Brendan Gleeson, Kerry Condon, and Barry Keoghan all bring their A game because if there was one poor performance then the movie would fall flat on its face.

There's not much you can do in a rural place in Ireland in 1923.

so what you are gravitated towards is those performances that will make you smile and then in the next scene will make you cry.

A sadness underneath the dark comedy that plays so well because you are constantly changing emotions with the flow of the movie and when the weight of the story is finally exposed you feel that satisfaction that the movie has earned the right to make you feel all these types of emotions.

Martin McDonagh's film is one that you may never watch again, I know I won't but I'm glad I watched it at least once because a movie like this that can bring a smile and tear at the same time is a movie that I think people do want to see.

The Banshees of Inisherin deserve a 7.6 out of 10.
